Crossword Puzzle

I chose to do the crossword puzzle for this activity. It was interesting and fun to create. I never thought to use Excel to create a crossword puzzle but I can’t believe how easy it was to make it. This is great for students to learn how to do. They can each create their own crossword puzzle based on their favorite book and share it with their classmates. It will help them learn new vocabularies while having fun.

It is very important for parents to be informed of what is going on in the classroom. As teachers we should always let parents feel welcome to discuss their child’s progress with assignments and activities. Having a good communication with parents will also help us teachers in knowing what our students are going through at home and what we can do to accommodate their needs.

I would not change anything. I would probably explore more activities that I could use in the classroom with this software.

WebQuest - Rainforest

For the webquest project I worked with Elena. It was great working with her as she was very creative and helpful. We created one on the rainforest. The rainforest is amazing and students should have the opportunity to learn about all the plant and animal life within it. This project is something we believe students will be excited about.

For this activity we wanted to have students’ work in groups and study the different layers of the rainforest. They will do research and become experts of their assigned layer. Each group will have the chance to complete a KWL chart using pbwiki and keep a journal using notesake.com. They will then have the opportunity to share what they learned with the other groups.

The webquest allows them to gain more knowledge about the rainforest—the layers, the animal life, and plant life. It is exciting and they will be incorporating technology into their projects.

For the most part zunal.com was user-friendly. However, we did have a few minor setbacks. But all in all I agree with Elena this was fun to create and will definitely share it with other teachers.
